It is highly dependable of your personal play style. After grinding almost every line to the max, I would say that American heavies and mediums are easiest to drive. Mainly due to their good gun depression which allows you to take advantage of terrain in places where other tanks just can't.

For example Russian mediums require more skill to be effective and of course in right hands they are probably the deadliest machines around. And Russian heavies are always a good choice, from IS-7 line only IS-8 could be considered weak.

Nevertheless in the end your play style is still the biggest factor in which tank line works the best for you.

For your gameplay, you should not go any further then the M6.

T29 you cant use for melee tactics unless its nose to nose.

T29 and T32 are hull-down type of tanks.

Fun when go hill up, shoot hill down, and hide your hull behind a wrecked tank, or some rocks.

The better skilled players wont even bother shooting you if they only see your turret when you drive a T29, T32 or a T34.

I mean, even tier 10 tankers have a hard time penning that armor of your turret.

The T1 and M6 i enjoyed because they move quite well for a heavy, and have decent DPM.

The Russian heavies are better, coz they have better armor then most of the other tanks in their tiers.

The KV-3 is a good example of this.

When you are in a tier 6 to 8 battle, only morons will face you head on.

As for the Pershing, you DON'T go melee.

Its fast, and very nimble. So use it to scout and flank.

Imagine, you end up as the lowest tier tank in a tier 10 match. You drive a Pershing.
You're team consists of morons, but coz of your scouting are able to bring the enemy team to one, VS your Pershing. That last one is a E100 Jagdpanzer with its huge 155 mm canon of doom.

Know, you're Pershing WILL be turned inside out with a single hit of that thing.

But trust me, the player in that huge behemoth will be losing the contents of his guts into his undies when he notices he's facing your lowly Pershing.

It'll take time, but if you keep shooting its side THROUGH the middle of it tracks, or its rear, you will bleed him dry.

I love playing my Pershing :P

Ofcourse shooting the top hatch of the t29 will have any t29 driver raging. Very funny to see him trying to back up to hide more only to see he has no shot, moving back up getting hit again and just becoming frustrated :) I have a maxed out t29 and it is a nice tank though it just does not give me that awesome feeling that mastering a tiger does. A skillfully driven Tiger 1 is a death machine.

I've just upgraded to a Tiger I and I'm not having fun yet! I'm up to 78% efficiency and have no added equipment but I seem to die very quickly! Maybe it doesn't suit my playing style; maybe I'm over-estimating its resilience. Nonetheless it is an iconic tank that I had to have. I'll keep grinding and try to find something bigger to hide behind for now.

I am enjoying the T34 and M4 mediums. The T34 quick reload and mobility is great!

Overall, go with what you fancy, but notice what seems to give you better results/more fun and be prepared to change - my best vehicle is still a lowly T18 tank destroyer!

You should go for the tanks that you would want to own irrespective of their win rate. Do that because ultimately you'll enjoy playing the game more.

My favourite heavies are the E75 and STI. They are simply awesome.

Go Soviet TD. I have the SU-100 with the 122 mm D-25S and it is AMAZING. Contrary to popular opinion, it is a GOD sniper, especially if you go on that little mount on Rockfield...but seriously, back on track. I go the T-44, Matilda (not grinding no more), E8 (for fun), the SU-100 and Alecto with 6-pdr.
