Lower front plate, sides, rear. For most of them.
on IS-3 shoot the upper front plate when they angle the tank wrong.

Here's an illustration ( from World of Tanks on PC, but it's essentially the same here in Blitz ):
For an IS-3 specifically, but it should apply to all IS type tanks. Avoid the turret because it's bouncy. Aim at the green areas here.

Pfft, 8.8cm KwK L/71 can penetrate the IS series as long you aim at the flat armour and the front armour as long he angles his tank wrong except the IS-7.I haven't encountered it yet but this is my experience with the IS series

First of all if you were playing with anything below a tier 6 don't even approach one. simple as

If you are head on with an IS in a lower trier tank aim for the cupola on the top this has saved me in loads of situations
