In case you missed it, here is Bushkas excellent piece on the STA-1 we discussed above:

Interestingly, both our takes on the STA-1 are fairly similar; the main difference is I really like it, and he doesn't seem to as much... :)

This will hopefully be my next buy - I found that the Chi Nu and Chi Ri play similar to the Hellcat, like you said second line and loads of cover. So Im assuming that STA 1 can be played similar to the Hellcat as well - a Turrented TD that has speed :justwait:

I would say that is an extremely fair assessment. The STA-1 may even work better because of the overall mobility and camo rating? I don't know, this tank just seems to work for me, and I drove a lot of turret-less TDs in my day.

Played, like Bushka and I both suggest, a bit like a Light tank, it can be very strong in its' tier. If you are able to be effective a fair amount of the time, you can really rack up some laughably fun damage numbers!

Also, it is one of the most fun brawlers I know of. Not the best, but one of the ones I enjoy the absolute most.

After a couple more losses, I was able to get my 2nd M:Ace badge today. You really need to go out of your way and surpass your limits to carry :) But as a newer player, I like how it teaches me how to abuse gun depression and use terrain to your advantage. I was able to beat a "dirty" T54 1 on 1 earlier today :izmena:

Negative.

I have games like that in the STA-1 all the time, quite by accident.

It's just that gud.

Top gun of the STA is the reason why one should play the STA; decent depression and excellent penetration!!! Got several Mastery's with it. If you keep those IS's at distance they'll hate you for penetrating their front. Camo and optics is really useful.

ANARCHY!!!

(because of SP and timers)

True.

And Vstabs are even more useful than camo net, because it extends your contact range and helps with snapshots.

That said, a Camo net does make sense on the STA-1 because of the insane camo rating.

Normally I would agree, but for some players I could mention, having to stay still a while to reset camo will only be good for theit game  - and yes, I am talking about myself.

When you are selecting equipment, you want to enhance the things that are already pretty good.

The STA-1 has a very good camo rating. Hence, a camo net makes sense, because it makes something that is already good that much better.

In the end, your playstyle should decide your equipment. Sneaky flanker? Camo net. Frontline brawler? Gun rammer or spall liner, perhaps. BXstard camper? Binoculars.

So yeah: camo net does make sense to put on the STA-1. Personally, I run Optics, Rammer, Vstab.

So you would advise someone to change vstab for camo net ?

That depends on their playstyle.

If they do a lot of intermediate range flank-a-booming, then yes. Resetting camo would be more important than accuracy to them, which is already pretty good on the top gun.

But for me, I am either at extreme range or in peoples face, so camo net doesn't make sense.

Nah, I think it should be equipped with optics, rammer and vstab.

That's the optimal setup.

I think if you run the camo net on it, you are just simply playing it wrong, or to be more exact not using the tank to its full potential.

Hmm I seem to remember someone saying that nothing but german tanks would be found in the garage. Then some british meds and now japanese...

I predict a russian TD in the future ;)

I want to say "I hate you, Hson", but obviously that would be a total lie.

It is true, however, I have fallen completely in love with the Object 263, or "Stalins Slipper" on my press account.

That said, I would rather se Japanese TDs in game. I know there weren't any, but WG made up the entire Jap Heavy line (which I hope we never see in blitz), so why not?

Jap StuG V Autoloader, anyone?

90mm Chi-ri, perhaps?

I have stopped using Rammers on my tanks and gone for Vents instead. That still gives half the increase in ROF and also helps with Aimtime and traverse/elevation. evaluation is forthcoming.

Otherwise, totally agree. Very few tanks benefit from a camo net IMO, and they are pretty much all Light tanks.

I really regret using free xp on fast unlocking the tier 7-8 tanks, should have kept them for tier 8-9 modules. It is quiet terrible atm although most tanks are terrible when stock so I shouldnt complain too much.

Having had bad experience on WOT PC with it, I thought its one of the worst T8 mediums on Blitz, boy I was wrong, I am totally in Love with it.

Running: rammer, vstab, optics

Once you grasp the playstyle, nothing can stop it.

I will brawl two top tier Heavys at once with no problem. It's all about the cheeky short flank, which just means driving around a house or small hill. This will negate the enemy DPM, and also your actual need for a rammer. Then try to get a shot in from behind, or is they chase you, back up in a sawtooth pattern around your piece of cover.

I mean like so: Back up. quick peek forward, shoot, back up further during reload, peek forward, shoot, do it all over again.

Still, of you position good, that rammer plus Adrenaline will come in handy for sure. It's down to playstyle. I do run rammer on my super-elitist Sneaky Panther, because low Alpha.

Thanks a lot for your guidance, just got the tank and wanted to learn before I start getting burned, I find very helpful what you guys discussed here.  I am thinking about the equipment, when you say optics, do you mean binocular (+25% still), so the other ones (10%), I play in Spanish and have a hard time translating these two.  Thanks a bunch in advance!

First 10 battles I used binoculars, but as I was moving so much and driving around I changed them for Optics 10%.
