Hi there Blitz Mates, today WG are sticking with the British theme, bringing the Excelsior tier 5 heavy tank to the store for 1,500 gold with 9 slots unlocked, a rare camo and a garage slot...all at 70% discount.

Compensation for the tank is set at 500,000 credits. That's a gold equivalent of 1250. So basically WG are saying buy the tank and the slot, get all the equipment slots and the camo for free!

There is no real sales history in the store, this tank is available in the tech tree for 2,400 gold....so already you're on a winner with the offer.

So on to the breakdown.....

No Discount 70.9% Discount %age of Bundle
Attachment * --- --- ---
7 Days Premium Time --- --- ---
9 Slots 2025 589 39.28%
Camouflage 230 67 4.46%
Garage 250 145 9.7%
Gold --- --- ---
Credits --- --- ---
Tank 2400 698 46.56%
--- --- --- ---
--- --- --- ---
Total 5,155 1,500

Actually works out to close to 71%...good enough! It costs almost as much to unlock the slots as to buy the tank, so if you want one of these...it's a good offer.

Let's talk real money...what will this bundle cost based on how you buy your gold?

Gold Source Gold cost per coin 1.5K Bundle
bundle (3250) bought on iOS £0.00277 (€0.0031) £4.15 (€4.65)
bulk bundle (37500) bought on iOS £0.00227 (€0.00254) £3.40 (€3.81)
mid bundle (3250) bought on Amazon £0.00207 (€0.00232) £3.11 (€3.48)
bulk bundle (37500) bought on Amazon £0.00180 (€0.00201) £2.70 (€3.02)
mid bundle (3250) bought using Amazon Coins £0.00165 (€0.00185) £2.48 (€2.78)
bulk bundle (37500) bought using Amazon Coins £0.00144 (€0.00161) £2.16 (€2.42)
Best possible savings   48% Max saving

Cheap as chips....honestly....chips cost nearly that down my local chip shop...!

If you bought the tech tree tanks and equipped it yourself, it would have cost...

Slots Credits Gold %age increase of bundle
3 240,000 600 40%
6 510,000 1275 85%
9 810,000 2025 135%

So obviously you don't want to do that!!!

But is it any good....let's have a gander!.

Tank Effectiveness B Tier 5 doesn't exactly have a lot of heavy tanks, but the Excelsior does have the highest DPM, but its penetration is quite poor and it's got a low alpha and high rate of fire. Aim time is not great but dispersion is OK. For a heavy speed is decent (not medium speed though) but it is well armoured (frontally at least) with only the churchills beating it out.
Fun Factor B This tank has its moments. Its mobility helps a lot, so you may want to run with the mediums and make use of your armour instead of hanging out with the heavies. It's not a dog, but it 's not a scream a minute either.
Offer value for money A What's there to complain about, a fully equipped and camo'd tank with 70% off...less than the tech tree costs. Only question you have to ask yourself is how much you are going to play it, but you could always forego that bag of chips and do your health some good instead and buy a tank!!!

The British theme continues today with the Churchill Mk. VI tier 6 British heavy tank. On sale for £7.99 with all slots unlocked, a rare camo, 7 days of premium time and a garage slot all at 60% off!.

If you buy it through Amazon, you get the following savings.

  Price (standalone)
Apple/Google/Steam App Stores £7.99 (€9.19 est.)
Amazon App Store £6.31 (€7.25 est.)
Amazon App Store
(bought with Amazon Coins at max 20% discount)
£5.05 (€5.80 est.)
(cheapest possible price)

Let's look at the sales history first.

Sale Date Price Discount Slots Camo Other Notes
18/1/18 £28.99 --- --- --- --- First Sold
15/6/18 £22.99 17% 6 --- ---
24/9/18 6000 Gold 25% 9 --- ---
Today £7.99 60% 9 Yes ---

£7.99 is roughly equivalent to 3525 gold, so you can see how the price has plummeted since it was released 18 months ago....and now has so much more stuff bundled. Unfortunately it's for cash and not gold, but at least it's a lot cheaper.

So working backwards here, and using the compensation value of 2400 gold for the tank, and 305 for the camo, we can work out the bundles real worth and the actual discount.

  No Discount Discounted Proportion
Attachment * --- --- ---
7 Days Premium Time 1250 616 17.47%
9 Slots 2700 1330 37.74%
Camouflage 305 150 4.26%
Garage 250 246 6.99%
Gold --- --- ---
Credits --- --- ---
Tank 2400 1182 33.54%
Credit Boosters --- --- ---
--- --- --- ---
Total 7155 3525

So I actually calculate the discount here to only be 50.7% and not the advertised 60%. Nonetheless it's still a good offer, providing a lot of value for the money.

Here are the equipment costs broken down for reference, you don't have to buy them obviously.

Slots Credits Gold %age increase of bundle
3 300,000 750 21%
6 660,000 1650 47%
9 1,080,000 2700 77%

Not much to add really, obviously a teaser tank for new players and one for the collectors to add. Let's see if it will be any fun for the rest of the players.

Tank Effectiveness B+ This is a very effective tank, we often run one in tournaments on city maps because it's so strong and has a good gun, but it is slow so depending on how the battle evolves sometimes you can find yourself out of the action. But when it's there it's a good tank. Helps if the reds sit still though!
Fun Factor B- It's only really the slow speed that hurts the tank. You'll be effective which means you'll have fun, just as long as your team doesn't wilt away and you end up getting CoD'd by the meds on red.
Offer value for money A Would have preferred to see the offer in gold, but if you have it already then the compensation and the premium time are actually good value alone. And if you have it and it isn't equipped then this is a good bundle to get to top it all off and add some gold to your coffers as well.
