I have 14k gold I was saving for the K-91. The T-55A is mighty tempting now.

save it for the k91....t55a is just another med based on a t54.....k91 is a true one off vehicle, heavy tank with a 100mm 3 clip autoloader, and the reload is surprisingly quick(nothing like is3 def).

And when I reach the gates of heaven, Saint Peter I will tell..."one more soldier reporting sir, I've served my time in hell".

K-91 was last sold in November for 14K, I expect to see it around May/June time for 13K or there abouts.

Hold on to your hats this is going to be worth your time and money. Today in store we have the IS-6 tier 8 heavy tank. The bundles is for 7,600 gold for the tank, 1 million credits, 7 days of premium time, a garage slot, 9 equipment slots unlocked, a pioneer attachment and a legendary camo, all discounted at 60%. Now that's what we call a bundle!

Let's try and break that all down...

No Discount 60% Discount %age of Bundle
Attachment * 747.5 299 3.93%
Premium Time 1,250 500 6.58%
9 Slots 5,062.5 2025 26.64%
Camouflage 1,590 636 8.37%
Garage 250 100 1.32%
Gold 0 0 0.00%
Credits 2,500 1000 13.16%
Tank 7,600 3040 40%
Total 19,000 7,600

* I've estimated the cost WG are associating to the pioneer attachment as it was only given away in an event before and is not available to purchase in game. I think it's worth more than 747.5 gold, but it fits the 60% model perfectly as it is.

Now if we apply the currency conversions to the bundle ....we get the following....

Gold Source Gold cost per coin 7.6K Bundle
bundle (3250) bought on iOS £0.00277 (€0.0031) £21.02 (€23.55)
bulk bundle (37500) bought on iOS £0.00227 (€0.00254) £17.22 (€19.29)
mid bundle (3250) bought on Amazon £0.00207 (€0.00232) £15.74 (€17.63)
bulk bundle (37500) bought on Amazon £0.00180 (€0.00201) £13.66 (€15.30)
mid bundle (3250) bought using Amazon Coins £0.00165 (€0.00185) £12.59 (€14.10)
bulk bundle (37500) bought using Amazon Coins £0.00144 (€0.00161) £10.93 (€12.24)
Best possible savings   48% Max saving

Just for comparison, here are the equipping costs for slots if you had to buy them separately.

Slots Credits Gold %age increase of bundle
3 600,000 1500 20%
6 1,275,000 3187.5 42%
9 2,025,000 5062.5 67%

Now the IS6 is available in the tech tree, priced (surprise surprise) at 7,600 gold, exactly the same as the offer. So in essence you are buying the tech tree tank and getting all of the other stuff bundled for free, about 11,800 golds worth...it's a great bundle.

This tank was last sold in the black Friday event for 6,080 gold with a 20% discount, just for comparison. I imagine anyone that bought that deal will feel a little gutted now.

The IS6 is the original credit earner for tier 8, I played it non stop for over 4K games and it ruled the battlefield, but these days it's not as popular, it's no less effective though and can still make decent credits.

This is the sort of bundle the experienced tankers hate, because you know full well that we will be flooded by newbies all buying a fully equipped IS6 with no clue how to play it. I guess that that depends if they end up on the red or green team.

Let's get some scores.....

Tank Effectiveness B+ A choice of 400 alpha guns, high pen low dpm vs high dpm low pen allows you a bit of customisation. Either way newer tanks will be tough to take out in a brawl, but the higher alpha makes it a great peek a boom tank
Fun Factor B- Not going to set the world alight, and it is sluggish at 35 kph, but you will take down bigger tanks and played sensibly you'll make good credits from this tank.
Offer value for money A+  What's not to like....with the right use of gold you can get this for close to £10, a fully equipped tier 8 heavy with all the bells and whistles, a ton of credits and premium time as well.

I'm tempted but have an IS5 which does the job.  Although a great offer I'll wait out on a wagon I want for now.  Cheers Stubbo for your work once again.

Another thing to think about is if you have the tank already and need credits, this isnt a bad deal.

Basically you get over 4 mil credits for 7600 gold, which is better than converting gold to credits, but not as good as the 10k gold bundle for credits, but if you factor in you also get 7 days premium and you need the camo as well then its pretty good deal.

It’s one of the best offers they’ve had for a long time...

Not that it balances out the gambletank nonsense, but for a frugal or newbie player, it’s a cracking deal.

I’m with Colmain, I already have the IS5 and Löwe.  I’m not all that interested in another premium heavy tank anyway (especially another IS) bit of you don’t have a Löwe or the IS5 its probably the best deal I have seen from WG in a long, long time.

I’m a bit torn on this. It’s still a full price in gold padded with free stuff (grinding credits for equipment takes time but it’s free).
I’ve got enough gold left from Xmas for one premium and some garage slots, I was hoping to wait for the T-34-85 Victory but maybe this is too good to miss?
How is the tank to play? Any advice from veteran players?

It plays like every other IS tank.  The gun will troll you repeatedly, best be up close and personal with your opponents.  Good alpha on the gun and reasonable pen.  The armour profile is strong, particularly frontally and it gets some bounces it shouldn't from time to time.  Mobility is not quite as good as an IS5 and the reload is longer but the armour is more reliable.  It has virtually no gun depression like all it's comrade's in the IS lines.  Overall it's reliable and sturdy just not a great deal of fun in my opinion.

Thanks DtheHun, I have the AMX M4 mle 49 for fun (for now I can just about hold my own weight in it), actually looking at stats it’s supposed to be superior to the IS6 in many ways, however the armour profile makes it a bit tricky (strong front, rest made of paper). I was wondering if the IS would be a bit easier to grind credits.

After the excitement of the excellent IS6 bundle, WG try and follow it up with ….the Matilda IV tier 5 medium tank. The bundles is for 1,500 gold for the tank, 9 equipment slots unlocked, the frozen flame camo, a garage slot all discounted at 70%. Those are the sorts of discounts we like....but is it still worth the money!

Let's try and break that all down...

No Discount 70% Discount %age of Bundle
Attachment --- --- ---
Premium Time --- --- ---
9 Slots 2025 607.5 40.50%
Camouflage 325 97.5 6.5%
Garage 250 75 5%
Gold --- --- ---
Credits --- --- ---
Tank 2400 720 48%
Total 5,000 1,500

Now if we apply the currency conversions to the bundle ....we get the following....

Gold Source Gold cost per coin 7.6K Bundle
bundle (3250) bought on iOS £0.00277 (€0.0031) £4.15 (€4.65)
bulk bundle (37500) bought on iOS £0.00227 (€0.00254) £3.40 (€3.81)
mid bundle (3250) bought on Amazon £0.00207 (€0.00232) £3.11 (€3.48)
bulk bundle (37500) bought on Amazon £0.00180 (€0.00201) £2.70 (€3.02)
mid bundle (3250) bought using Amazon Coins £0.00165 (€0.00185) £2.48 (€2.78)
bulk bundle (37500) bought using Amazon Coins £0.00144 (€0.00161) £2.16 (€2.42)
Best possible savings   48% Max saving

Just for comparison, here are the equipping costs for slots if you had to buy them separately (which you don't of course).

Slots Credits Gold %age increase of bundle
3 240,000 600 40%
6 510,000 1275 85%
9 810,000 2025 135%

Now the Matilda IV is also a tech tree premium tank, and is listed as 2400 gold to buy, so right out of the gate this is obviously a way better deal. But add in to that the fact you get all 9 slots unlocked and a limited camo as well...and you definitely have good value.

This tank was last sold in the black Friday event for 1,200 gold with a 50% discount. Probably a better deal if you didn't want to splay out on the slot unlocking as well, but you missed that so have to make do with the new offer!

Let's get some scores.....

Tank Effectiveness B+ High DPM, good alpha and penetration. Aim time is great and it has excellent gun depression/elevation....that's a great start...armour is excellent, built like a ...well tank! So where's the catch...speed and travers....this moves around like a dog with no legs...in the right spot and used as a bully this is a great tank...but you have to get to the battle first!
Fun Factor B+ This tank has it's charms. Get past the slow speed and you will have a whale of a time bouncing shells and taking chunks out of the red team.
Offer value for money A+ It's a great deal, can't argue with that, just ask yourself if you will get that value out in the amount of playtime you will use it for.

Day of the defender, as if one wasn't enough WG have now introduced the American T28 Defender tier 8 tank destroyer. The bundles is for 17,000 gold for the tank, a garage slot and an avatar (really) but no discounts! It also has a fixed camo as well We've had the great deals recently, this isn't going to be one of them!

It's available in store on it's own, but also bundled with the IS3 Defender for 27,000 gold and with a 40% discount.

Let's try and break that all down...first the T28 on its own.

No Discount 0% Discount %age of Bundle
Attachment --- --- ---
Premium Time --- --- ---
9 Slots --- --- ---
Camouflage --- --- ---
Garage 250 250 1.47%
Gold --- --- ---
Credits --- --- ---
Tank 16,750 16,750 98.53%
Total 17,000 17,000

Well, with 0% discount that wasn't really going to tell us anything!

Now let's look at the dual tank bundle

No Discount 40% Discount %age of Bundle
Attachment --- --- ---
Premium Time --- --- ---
9 Slots 10125 6075 22.5%
Camouflage --- --- ---
Garage 500 300 1.11%
Gold --- --- ---
Credits --- --- ---
Tank 34,375 20,625 76.39%
Total 45,000 27,000

So if you are in the market for both tanks, this looks like a good deal, but again, only if you don't have the credits to unlock the slots and you are willing to pay for that extra as that's 22.5% of the bundles value. You'll note from the calculations that the pre discount value of the two tanks is a shade over 34K gold, so they are pricing them equally at 17K, and discounting them both to 10K each.

Now if we apply the currency conversions to the bundle ....we get the following....

Gold Source Gold cost per coin 17K Bundle 27K Bundle
bundle (3250) bought on iOS £0.00277 (€0.0031) £47.02 (€52.67) £74.69 (€83.65)
bulk bundle (37500) bought on iOS £0.00227 (€0.00254) £38.53 (€43.15) £61.19 (€68.54)
mid bundle (3250) bought on Amazon £0.00207 (€0.00232) £35.20 (€39.43) £55.91 (€62.62)
bulk bundle (37500) bought on Amazon £0.00180 (€0.00201) £30.56 (€34.23) £48.54 (€54.36)
mid bundle (3250) bought using Amazon Coins £0.00165 (€0.00185) £28.16 (€31.54) £44.73 (€50.10)
bulk bundle (37500) bought using Amazon Coins £0.00144 (€0.00161) £24.45 (€27.38) £38.83 (€43.49)
Best possible savings   48% Max saving

With no slots on the standalone T28, you will have to equip this yourself, and if you don't have the credits, this is the additional cost you'll be in for..

Slots Credits Gold %age increase of bundle
3 600,000 1500 9%
6 1,275,000 3187.5 19%
9 2,025,000 5062.5 30%

It's a hefty chunk of change for a hefty tank.

So is 17K gold fair or not for the T28 alone. There have been 5 other tier 8 tanks released in the last 8 months (since Spare Parts went away) and all of them were launched at 17K gold. They were the AMX M4 49, ISU-130, Lorraine 40t, Panzer 58 and Chrysler K. All of them had 9 slots unlocked in the price, and all had a 10-15% discount with the exception of the Lorraine 40t which was 0%.

So by omitting the equipment slots WG have increased the cost of this tank by around 30% over all previous tier 8 tanks. That's hard to swallow, and represents a lot poorer value for money than any previous tier 8 tank. But WG have always seen the Defender, and also the Halloween tanks as special tanks with premium pricing, so this doesn't really surprise me.

The bundle although good to get 40% off everything is one heck of a wedge of cash, but if you want both tanks and want them equipped, buy them now as you won't get a cheaper deal than this. For everyone else, save your cash for later.

Let's get some scores.....I'll just look at the T28 here.

Tank Effectiveness B- Put simply, this is the worst TD at tier 8, it's DPM is 1000 less than the Jagdtiger and the regular T28 and 1200 less than an AT15. Penetration is the bottom end as well, but it is effective. Alpha at 400 is average at tier 8 but rate of fire is just under 6 rounds per minute (you have no rammer available) and it has a slow aim time as well. It is slow and ponderous and you never reach the claimed 30kph top speed, awful traverse speeds...but at least the armour is decent (something at least). It's effectiveness comes in dealing 1200 damage in 12 seconds, useful to wipe out a tank or to put a dent in an enemy advance.
Fun Factor C I'm not sure I would describe the tank as fun. I found it to be very effective in battle, as long as me and my team were in sync and we could support each other. As soon as you get separated in any way you're dead meat. I do like it in a perverse kind of way, but I think it will loose it's lustre quite quickly.
Offer value for money (T28 only) C- Can't claim this is a good deal in any way at all. WG should have offered the standalone T28 for 17K with slots unlocked, in not doing so they have upped the base cost of the tank by 30% and that's just not cricket. The fact that you can get this tank fur under £25 using Amazon and their coins means that some (like myself) will snap it up, but it's barely what I'd call affordable. Recommendation is to wait a year before trying to get it in a Christmas auction...but I would not be holding my breath on that.
Offer value for money (Both Tanks Bundle) B I can't give this more than a B as the sheer cost that 27K gold represents is not a worthy price to pay for anything as a digital asset in a game, but at the same time it does represent the cheapest combination you will every be able to acquire both of these tanks at if you don't have the original defender....
