This is something that needs to be fixed. I would like to play my IS-6 in rating battles but I can only do so if I play with the so-called "top gun" (apcr/heat) whereas I would like to play with the ap/apcr gun as I can live with the bad penetration for the bonus of dpm. At the moment it is implemented that you have to mount top modules so the apcr/heat gun is the only gun you can mount on the IS-6 for ratings.

My understanding was that you had to have all modules researched - but not necessarily all top modules installed.

Have you actually unlocked the top gun on the IS6?

You may find that if you unlock it you can still select your preferred gun for rating battles.

Its currently a issue and probably fixed in later updates.

I think this was introduced to stop people grinding tanks on Rating battles and negatively affecting the outcome. It was raised on this here forum as an issue so it could even be suggested WG read and listened to feedback.

Maybe it should be excepted for Premium tanks with multiple options, how many of them are in the game other than IS6?

Why would you use IS-6? Use IS-5

I dislike my IS-5. gun stats are worse than IS-6 and it has a pike nose which sucks when trying to sidescrape. IS-6 fits my playstyle better, especially with the ap/apcr gun as you have the dpm to punish lower tiers and to contest with tier 9s

People still grind tanks in Rating battles, they do not grind the current tank but they grind the next tank in the line and the outcome is still so bad apart from all new players with premium tanks in tier 8. Maybe Rating battles will become more balanced in the near future as "calibration" will finish but until then the battles are so random.

Fair enough, to be honest not played any rating battles since long before the last update. But hey, why let experience get in the way of sharing opinion. :)

If you have all top modules fitted how does it matter where you grind it, each team has exactly the same amount of tanks from each tier. The outcome has no difference regardless of grinding or not.

You can free xp modules and have 50% crew, and you are still allowed to go into rated battles. So no, outcome is not the same.

Nope. There is actually nothing to be unlocked on prem tanks. AFAIK the exp needed to unlock my second gun on jag8.8 was 160 exp or something like that. And no prem tank has any other modules to be unlocked besides the gun on very few of them

OP said he is allowed to use ONLY the top gun on the is6 to enter rating battles so that actually answers your question.

And yes - there is a problem with all prem tanks that have alternative guns - i.e. jag 8.8 can not use the 8.8cm gun for rating battles.

Tbh idk how many other prem tanks with alt guns are out there but this is an issue for some players.

Apart from Crew grinding as JJSawry mentioned, let's take the example of grinding next tank in the line, let's say you have OBJ 704 and you want OBJ 268 which require 350K experience (this means 400-500 battles). If the guy is doing these battles on fast forward way or AFK way (just because the stats are not affected) then the outcome is not the same. If you played RB recently, you could see so many yolo dying in less than a minute or suiciders (going straight to the opponents) but also many AFK. RB are still unbalanced and random (based on what team you get) and there are still so many results of 7-0, 7-1 or battles ended in less than 2-3 minutes. Will be good if these RB will be more balanced and will finish in most of the cases 7-6 or 7-5 with last players being one shoot.

I can certainly see your point of view but I use ratings battles to grind tier 9 however I have 100% crew, all top modules and I alaways unlock 8 or even the full 9 equipment slots before I use them. Personally I don’t know why I bother above tier 7 because as soon as I get a tier 10 that line is finished, I may play a couple in tier 10 but out of 3 x tier 10 I won’t have played more than 50 games. It’s way too TD and Heavy orientated which I find manic.

I have no problem with players that are playing the game (good or bad, we all get good or bad games) in RB to grind new tanks / crew (some players are good enough and even with crew 50% perform better than others with crew % ) but I do have a problem with players that use RB to grind the tanks / crew and they just don't play the game because the game is allowing this without showing it into the stats (like I mentioned above).

Original Post or Original Poster, depending on context.

OP means "original poster". Depending on context it might mean "original post" too as in "the first post made to the topic".

I also tried to join a rating battle with my is6. It will only allow you to play with the top gun which isn’t my preferred gun.

Next comes the dip........ watch this space.
