Went down the middle on Copperfield, after waiting for everyone to get hotly engaged, and turned left to get behind the red heavies.   Shot one in the butt and then ..... excuse me?   What happened to my reload time?   Oh, you muppet.   You took the T34-85 out thinking you were in a T34.   What a clot.   No harm done but geez.

Funny way to introduce the topic but I have been really getting into the T34 lately.   I use the 57 mm which has terrific dpm.   Oddly, I find it hard to make pew pew guns work on most tanks but not on this one.   I dunno why.   At any rate, it is my fave T5 med.   Arranged in order of pref. these are the five currently in the garage:

T34 - speed, dpm, strength hull down

Chi-nu - personality, penetration, gun depression

Pz IV Anko - great looks, teaches Japanese, nice gun

M4A2E4 - free from a crate, gun depression and armour profile, effective

Sherman V - a poor version of the one above.   Will sell if/when aced.

What’s your favourite?   Is the T25 worth the dosh?   Ugly thing but if it’s good ...

probably pz V/IV, great hull hull armor and ramming capabilites without sacrificing mobility or gun characteristics

Type T34 is red hot at the moment, as above with pew pew gun.

Its Chinese comparator has slightly better DPM but worse gun depression (5 degrees to 8 I think).   Give me the gun depression any day.

I confess, I still haven’t figured out how to use hull armour yet.   I would probably get more out of the Anko if I did.

I agree with my stats, definitely the Pz. III/IV.

T-25 is good, slow traverse though and nearly impossible to ace as it seems to be a unicum's plaything. 100 battles and not even a first :(

T25 is very good. My brother has played 11 battles in his and has mastered it twice, one being a raseiniai. If you struggle, get the panzer3/4 or t34 as they ate safer options to play. If you want gun depression play the chi-nu or the m4.

Still great, but not as OP as it used to be before all the maps were flattened and spall liner was removed.  There used to be maps where you could get up quite high while still being concealed, then suddenly swoop down like an eagle and ram a Tier IV to death, sometimes without even needing to fire the gun, lol!  The prey used to freeze like a rabbit in a car’s headlights, I used to laugh imagining their eyes going as wide as saucers!  :teethhappy:

I disagree. It has very poor accuracy and depression angle doesn't help either. The normal T-34 is much better imo.

My choice would be M4, though T-34 would be a close second.

A dedicated hater of KV-2 since day one. (Unpopular opinion :P )

The Type T-34 has equal accuracy to the T-34 with the same 57mm gun.

However, the T-34 does have a big -3 advantage in gun depression (although IMO it shouldn't - the Type T-34 deserves at least another -2).

Other stats are so similiar between the 2 tanks that the differences are not worth mentioning.

Monster 6-kill ace with 5-kill Kolobanov and 2,400+ damage on Copperfield in the T34 yesterday.   It is highly versatile and capable of great things.   If it got the extra degrees of gun depression referred to by Titus Scato its awesomeness wwould be boundless.

ETA oh, I misread Titus.   He advocates extra depression for the Type T34 not the real one.   Hmph!

Indeed.

The T1 is best played as a medium. Not least because of its -10 degrees gun depression and very weak sides which make sidescraping extremely difficult (compared to hull-down).

It's probably the first taste players get of an actual heavium.

Oh, and ram kills are always fun in it. 58 tons with 1050 horsepower ftw.

Now going back to actual tier 5 meds, I don't have a lot of battles in them, since I'm more of a heavy/TD guy.

t5_meds.jpg

The one I played the most is the Anko. I don't mind the high-school girl voices. I do reasonably decently in it. Had a couple lol bounces off the side plates.

The Pz III/IV I've played the least. I've had some good games, but for some reason I'm not particularly fond of the tank.

I'm pretty bad in the T-34, despite already pulling two masteries in it. Can't say why, since I'm quite adequate in its light Brit counterpart.

I've slowly warmed up to the Chi-Nu. The most common mistake I see people doing when driving it is to attempt brawling or peek-a-boom-ing in it. It can't do either. No ability to bounce, no DPM to wear down reds. I stay behind the rest of the line and plink the other guys.

I play the Pz IV in derp config, since I see no reason for the L48 when already owning the Pz III/IV and Anko. It's loads of fun when the shots connect, not so much when HEAT bounces (ow, my wallet!) or when they completely whiff.

I absolutely detest the M7. It should NOT, under any circumstances, be classified as a medium. The tank should be reclassified as a light (with light camo rating), the garbage 37 mm auto and the current stock turret be deleted, its stock gun should be the 75 M2, with the M3 and 6-pdr Mk III as upgrades (well, the M3 as upgrade and the 6-pdr Mk III as sidegrade). And Rammer should be available instead of the current Vents.

I once took my mine into battle with no ammo survived the battle and got 2 ram kills fun times lol. Your spot on tho it’s not as op as it used to be Titus but still a tank I love to drive just wish it had more depression over the front

Depression isn't that terrible. People who play the Type-34 or the Churchill I with the 75 HV are accustomed to it.

Elevation OTOH, wow, that's awful. Dip a bit into a ditch and you can't aim at anything.

I splashed on a Pz V/IV based on the comments.   It’s practically a heavy!   It has the same gun as the Anko but does not even begin to perform as well.   Check out tank compare:

Pz. v/iv dpm 1416

Anko 1418!

The difference in RoF is off the scale!

Pz v/iv 8.85

Anko 8.86!

Think of all those battles you will lose in the v/iv because you took a hundredth of a second too long to fire!
