Just in time to be to late for the latest offer on the Valkyria Chronicles tanks (    ) I managed to finish my Guide/Gameplay video on the Edelweiss, the lovely little Star of the Series.

It's a tank that gets way too less attention, compared to the Lupus or other Fantasy tanks like the Dracula or the Helsing, yet it is one of the best Tier 7 tanks at all and a lot, really a lot of fun to drive. Plus it's the best looking Fantasy tank in the game (personal opinion). Anyway, as I felt it needs some love from the community I put up a movie with a short guide part and some gameplay, consisting of consecutive games including some Mastery games as well as regular gameplay and a few losses. To anyone who is spoiled by the high quality of the Vids by Sk8xtrm and Bushka please be merciful. :teethhappy:

I'm sure it will be on sale fairly soon again and if anyone is not put off by the Edelweiss being a Fantasy Tank I can clearly recommend the little Fatty. It's as good a medium as it can be.

Ah yes, please Canny and Co., this here is a try to make the forum about tanks again. Comments on how protected I am because the KV1S missed that shot in the first games please into the MM-thread, I will happily answer all of them. This here should really be about the tank.

Nobody cares fantasy tanks unless they are blatantly overpowered.

Not got it, not going to get it (unless it drops in a crate like the Warhammer ones did), but glad to see a tank thread. :)

It’s an ok tank, can’t think of a reason to drive it over the Rudy though or Panther or T 43.

Or is it the other way round?

@Titus: the „before“ is the title song (cover) of the Amazon Series „The man in the high castle“... seems fitting, as both the series/book and the tank are fantasies in a WWII context ;)

@HariKari: the Panther is much less flexible. Its an amazing gun in a mediocre tank. The Edelweiss is much more balanced. The Rudy/T-43 is a tougher one and they are probably contenders for „best Tier 7 med behind the Dracula“ with higher DPM on the Rudy vs higher Alpha on the Edelweiss. Given how many IS-tanks you will meet the 15mm of extra Apcr Pen give the edge to the Edelweiss.

This tank has nothing going for it except being OP. It's a not historical and it's ugly. I wonder why even people bother.

What a great song fitting for an organized excursion into Switzerland from the north side and a motorcyclist meeting in Zurich.

Strolling down the avenue
Me and my shadow
Not a soul to tell our troubles to
And when it's twelve o'clock
We climb the stair
We never knock
For nobody's there
Just me and my shadow
All alone and feeling blue.

Gg, well done. You actually used the hulldown advantage of the Edelweiss in a very good way in the end..  I dont see what you mean by the aiming as you hit almost all your shots while on the move, other than that weird frantic left-right swinging you are doing at the beginning?

My view on fantasy tanks - no nation allocated, no place in the game. Back in the day 48ton ruckus' video on edelweiss etc summed up those tanks perfectly for me.

Nice, another good game. It shows how bouncy this tank is, at least when you are a protected player ;) :teethhappy: .

This thread is not about your view, this is about the tank!

This is a forum open to players to express their views in threads on certain tanks in game, you know like the Edelweiss!

While I principally would've prefered for the game to remain historic in terms of the tanks featured I see no harm in using the tanks once they are here, as you will meet them in battle anyway. Plus of course actually most tanks that are in game have never existed in the fully researched form, just look at the Panther, plus there are several tanks that are not only blueprints but actually completely invented by WG, like the T-28 Proto or the T110E4. I actually prefer fantasy tanks to be recognizable, not pseudo-historic inventions.

Anyway, I think this is a topic that has been chewed enough. People have long discussions on the gameplay of Helsing and Dracula, why can't we have a civilised discussion on the gameplay of other fantasy tanks?

Reset of base at 100. Recorded before 4.9v and new skill. Today it would be a victory!

@superschnitzelkoenig:

I have experienced that the bullets fly "below the centre of the cross-hairs" will beeing in Sniper mode.

Very often this leads to hitting the tracks or obstacles / ridge lines where other tanks would have hit the target.

Am I the only one who "feels this way" or do you have experienced similar issues?

This is independent from the dispersion of the guns. If I compare it to the Dracula by example: the bullets fly direct in the middle of the cross-hairs.

(I think it is the similar issue as with the resent bug fix: "For the Stridsvagn 74A2, the position of the camera in Sniper mode was fixed (previously it was located below the firing point)."
