Agreed.  The high prices for low tier tanks exist to discourage sealclubbers from unlocking all 9 slots on their low tier clubbers.

 

I suggested to WG a while ago that low tiers should have limited access to equipment slots.  (Tier I should get nothing, Tiers II and III should get the 1st row only, and Tiers IV, V and VI should get the 1st and 2nd rows only.)  But WG didn’t listen.

Good update,  the timers are to be removed because few people were paying the price and the frustration of the ordinary player was high because of this,  at least that is my guess from the anicdotal evidence, I think that the amount of real world money earned by WG was not what was expected. 

 

Spare parts was a complete fiasco.  Looks as though 3.8 can finally be forgiven if a bit late. 

 

This is effectivly makes the tanks more expensive in silver as everybody will now try to fully equip the tanks. 

 

Stand by for the silver grinding tanks to be taken out of mothballs.  Where did I leave that IS-6 ? I am sure it must be at the back of the garage. 

 

The question now is what to do with the spare parts before the release. Most of my fully equipped tanks have also been permanently camouflaged with the shattered ice so this new camouflage whilst interesting does not help me that much. Not really wanting the silver so what should I do ?

Isn't the fact that you don't think people aren't willing to invest much on low tiers just another argument for why the prices may as well be decreased? A big reason why I quit WoT PC at tier 5 was that I never had enough resources to equip most tanks, or train most crews etc. (WoT PC is even worse for low tiers compared to blitz). The people who can afford these prices are seal clubbers with access to higher tiers. This doesnt make sense to me, not from a player perspective or from WG's perspective since new players (which are really important) are punished.

 

Again I want to emphasize that this announcement is still a large improvement overall compared to the current system. But that doesn't mean we can't improve on it even more.

I guess this will encourage the use of premium time & premium tanks to earn credits...

Good move WG, works for the players and should hopefully retain existing players, tempt some old ones back, and shouldn’t alienate new ones (but will lure them to buy premium time & vehicles).

Gamble crates on the other hand...

Welcome news indeed and maybe the disparity between the tiers ( as highlighted by albin747’s excellent post ) is good news too . Anything that makes new players stay in tiers 1 to 4 has to be good .

 Sub 45% wr players ( and there is a lot of them ) don’t make many credits per game but need consumables and equipment to offset their  poor gameplay . Maybe WG is targeting them as a new revenue stream ? Sort of self imposed timers for the noobs ?

I read the post from WG and it does not give any date, that's why. But if I understand it well, the change from SP to credits will happen before 5.0. Which means (in my book) in the coming days/weeks

Not 100% sure but the way I read it.

 

Timers go with 5.0. Spare parts can no longer unlock the equipment slots. Spare parts can be changed for stuff premium time etc. 

Spare parts booster get converted to spare parts. 

 

5.1 spare parts go and if you have any left they are converted to silver.

4.11 in about 2 weeks, 5.0 in about 4 weeks after that.... at a rough guess.

 

You have about 6 weeks to either accumulate spare parts, or equip some tanks.  Given the equipment buying bonanza that will take place in 5.0, I’d recommend stock piling credits and SP.
