Working my slow way to the 50M.  Just got the Panther 2.  Fully upgraded and equipped.  Happy with tactics and best type of game play after looking at various vids.  I'm looking at using the 7.5 and engaging at distance.  Any top tips from out there?

Play Panther I and II in Mad Games when you are frustrated and just ram the enemies, it's hella fun!

But a Great Choice to go for the E50 M, it's quite a unbalanced and strong tank.

I wouldnt use it with the 7.5.   You will be having to fight through swaths of tier 8 heavies the 7.5 forces you to expose yourself even more to do damage.  The low alpha makes it a less than ideal sniper.  When you need to push out damage it just doesnt unless you post on someone to get consecutive shots which opens you up to getting smashed.   The 8.8 is only a bit better but allows you to be out less.  Its not super agile so you need to be behind the first line of meds and using its actually pretty good gun depression.   Use it to keep your first line meds alive.

Its a tank you have to think ahead in the flow of battle, You cant respond as fast as say a CDC, so you need to be looking where you can put out damage but not get smashed.  If try to do the sniper thing and hang on hills you wind up either getting pushed on and you are too slow to get away or you are at the end of the game and trying to finish off IS based heavies and RNG never seems to go your way.   For me its a mid game tank, you dont push in the very beggining but you need to be keeping the push alive but if you are alone at the end you are screwed.

Panther II is a tricky tank, much like the Panther. Its more of a light/Med - use that mobility and gun to great effect.  Try to avoid the front line at all costs, stay as a 2nd line support just behind the heavies. Trick to this tank is to play the tank not the tier! Remember, it has a good gun and good mobility for a reason - its not the fastest tank out there, but it is mobile enough to relocate. Much like its older brother, E50, it has a strong turret and weak hull - try to stay hull down, only exposing that turret when necessary and beware the cheeks either side can be penned

I think most of the important things have already been said, especially the post by onlypainhurts gives some valuable advice. The one thing I am going to add is that (unlike the Panther I) the Panther II has the typical gun depression scheme that both E50 types have as well: You have better gun depression over the sides than over the front. You will want to adapt to a playstyle where you aproach small ridges or other low cover in a roughly 45 degree angle: This means both using your maximum gun depression and angling your front plate in a way that is hard (Panther II) or impossible (E50, E50M) to penetrate. Once you master this you will be a much better time with the Panther II and the following tanks.

Ah!  The depression over the sides might explain it a bit for me, totally missed that and was still getting whacked as not angling properly when I thought I was hull down

Haven’t played in years, but I remember having a good time with my panther.

and no, it’s not because it was such a good tank then. trading shots with Soviet things has never been fun and still is not. You say a gentle heil and they reply with Stalinium derp. It’s not fun.

The good time is that as long as enemy has something else to shoot, they will shoot that first. So if you retro engineer this correctly, enemy will leave you alone focusing their priorities and leave you with plenty of time to use your dpm. on the other hand if you come up and are the only target they have, you will be smashed atrociously.

Read my guides there

I want just that, and replay files.

Everything I’d say has already been said above. But I’m just going to repeat the most important tip, as it’s the one a lot of Panther drivers forget:

Do. Not. Get. Close. To. The. Frontline.

You. Are. Second. Line. Support.

Get that? Good.

(Hopefully you know the difference between second line support and sniping, though).

The majority of the time I’ve seen Panthers, they try to wedge themselves into the frontline or face-hug a TD, only to get killed very quickly. And they always blame the tank or the team. And I’m like “no mate, it’s just you,”

Also get the pink camo if it doesn’t cost gold, just for the lols. Gotten a couple upvotes for the Pink Panther reference.

Thanks for the top tips troops.  I've swapped the 7.5 for the 8.8 and it is a better choice (less exposure, better Alpha etc).  I'm playing as a support, which I was doing anyway.  Now perfecting the art in it of only putting rounds down on targets of opportunity at the start of the game (saving my HP as much as possible), then only getting involved (taking risks) mid game and then going full on aggressive towards the end.  Of cause this only works if I'm on a decent teM lol.

Panther II is the easiest way to lift up your WN8. And don’t think E50 is much better. Yes, it has higher alpha and slightly better turret, but nowhere as strong turret as its big brother.

Just a little buff for Panther II, please

Still those turret sides are very hard to hit when the E50 is wiggling. I really think the E50 is a much better tank. More reliable armour and much better Alpha more than make up for its slightly sluggish mobility.

Yes, it is better, but I have difficulties finding where the “reliable armor” is. It’s all about expectations. After Panther II, I was ready for sweet, mildly OP grind, but no. That ain’t E50.

Does this count if I re-upload the video and photoshop the dates?

Seriously. I feel for you. I was so certain to sell it after the grind, but this Ace softened my heart.

Getting angry on tank seems to work well. I aced T-34-2G FT "The Miserable" yesterday after 6 losses.
