Microwave signals travel through the air at approximately the same speed as light through a vacuum and will have a latency of approximately 5.4 microseconds for every mile of path length. Light travel in optical fibre has latency of 8.01 microseconds for every mile of cable, due to the refraction in the fibre. When data has to travel over 1400 miles from Chicago to New York and back again the latency difference due to the communications medium alone is more than 3.5 milliseconds.
Straighter Routes Microwave networks have shorter routes, reducing the total network distance and consequently further improving latency. Microwave links can overcome topographical obstacles such as rivers, mountains and highways while optical networks in many cases have to go around them or follow existing roads or bridges. In general, signals over fibre networks have to travel farther and thus take longer to get to their destination.

5G will also melt your brain if you stay close enough to a 5G post(not literally, but it harms to the point of causing cancer).

Not something you'll be able to do very easily, as it'll be at the top of a 30m+ mast. Mind you, a cite would be good, as we used to say on alt.fan.pratchett when someone spouted something definitive without backup.

Also, the key difference between wired and wireless networks isn't just the basic physics, it's the presence or absence of handshaking, amongs other stuff.

Ever wondered why fibre is considered an important part of 5G?

While it will give easier and faster access to the end user, it wont make the whole internet incredibly faster and lower latency.

As more people get access to a network it slows down.

As your network gets faster, people try to do more and usage increases.

Like everyone on a McDonalds wifi, you can have a good signal but slow connection as capacity is hit.

It will take a long time to get coverage everywhere and maintain such high speeds.
