After watching the video about the event on YouTube and reading the in game news, I'm halfway in understanding how the event works... They are complicating it without good reason, once again!

There's good news though: although the Dracula and Helsing will be available in crates for real money/gold, the new camos are actually real camos, and not a "new version" of the tank. Both the tanks and the new camos will be in crates in the "Folio path", with a probably pretty low win chance, but that's okay I guess.

The event is a so called "Folio", some kind of mysterious book with 60 pages, with spells (or whatever they are called). Every page is a level that unlocks stuff like gold, silver, boosters, premium time. To unlock a level, you have to earn a new currency, which will be granted by completing missions. On level 9 we will get the Nightmare, a level 5 TD which was inspired on the StuG. So far so good, and not too different from last year with the Scavenger.

That's where it gets sketchy, however. On level 45 there's the Lycan, the main prize of the event (level 60 is a legendary camo for the Lycan). It's logical that this is a hard grind, but there's more than only that. You can buy, and from the video I understood that you can ONLY buy, a "cypher" from the in game store, which unlocks 30 levels at once. This will be available from level 17.

Seems very weird to me. The video suggest that we can only get past level 17 by bying this cypher, which would mean that the Lycan sits behind a hard paywall. Maybe someone else can explain this better because I don't get it. A "cypher" to skip 30 levels also seems really lame, also from a gameplay stance...

Edit: The written article doesn't seem to suggest the same as the video. Apparantly it's possible to grind for all 60 levels without paying (which won't be possible if you have a life though :P).

I think without paying you can go as far as 18-20 lvl. We have 10 mission a day some will be 60points other 100points. Seems you can get +/- 900 points a day (if you do all 10 missions) + some extra bonuses. Let's say daily without paying you can get 1200 points x 16 days = 19 200 (each lvl 1000 points) so you can unlock 19 lvl. At least that's how I understand it. So even with buying this extra "something" it will be difficult to get new tank without playing a lot.

I think the issue is the number of glyphs available for free.
You need 1000 per level, without getting polio and syphilis you can only get 16x 880 plus a few boosters 500 each, probably enough for lvl 17, maybe 18 (but only if you clear all 10 missions every single day)

So the Stug and some freebies are easily doable for free, the rest requires the cipher to immediately unlock 30 levels and get extra 400 glyphs a day in missions.

you can unlock levels for gold, probably at extortionate price but in theory you can just buy the new tank.

I watched this video one more time and it seems WG made it clear without paying you can reach 17lvl only :(

Even that is unlikely for many, how often do you clear all 10 missions?

On the other hand, nobody will leave empty handed, tier V will be broken for a while with a scourge of stugs with cardboard cutouts, what’s not to like

You're right (as is diabolique). Didn't think about that. This probably means the cypher has an outrageous price.

Yeah at least we need only 9lvl to get tier V so should be easy but still more difficult that it was last time with scav. I wonder how much for this folio cipher?

In a way linking the event with missions makes it a bit fairer as it gives less advantage to people who can afford to grind for several hours a day. (Sometimes a very successful battle can unlock 3-4 missions at once)

I would rather see a combination of both. I have time to play but not everyday. Sometimes I can't play at all, sometimes I have several hours to play.

It doesn't matter though, it's only worth it to try to grind to lvl 9 if you want to Nightmare tank or lvl 15 for a Drac/Helsing/camo crate.

I’m more interested in how much free xp can I get from completing the levels. I finished grinding a bunch of tier VIs and will be buying a whole lot of tier VII plus a couple of T8 and T9 on Black Friday so can’t have too much of it

According to the NA forum the cost of the Cypher will be 10 dollars, which will probably translate in 10 pounds and about 12 (?) euros.

That would be a surprisingly fair price, somehow doubt it but who knows, maybe they decided to go for scale rather than profit per unit.
At a tenner I imagine they would sell an awful lot of them.

If it’s also available on Amazon at effective £6 then that’s a no-brainer. IF...

I’ll lay that tenner, the crates with Dracyolo/Hellthing are gonna be for sale in the store and they’ll probably have the old 2 tier pricing trick, a fiver for 1% drop chance, a tenner for 3% drop chance...

There’s no way the glyph will be a tenner it will be priced with a big discount off store prices for the stuff you get but 30 levels worth is gonna be 50 quids worth of stuff, dont forget it will be stuffed with the overpriced xp certificates and poosters so they can offer what looks a good deal but isn’t...

I hope I’m wrong and WG make this a volume play but I just can’t see it, it’s not how they roll...

so if you plan to get the new tank buy that thingy before starting because you get some extra from the other things

dont go to lvl 17 and then buy it because you will lose around 10-15lvs

buy cypher get you to level 30 and easy grind for the tank and if you do all you will get the camo also

but how much this thing will be no one says so it will be a lot more than 10£$ :)

if you are not buying you still get free tank a lot of boosters some gold and a chance to win another tank or camo for it :)

decent event but way too complicated

why they dont make it simple not every one has masters degree in mobile games

Lol.  WG has a PhD in Stupidly Complex Event Design the research paper they wrote is pure gibberish, here's the lecture they did explaining it...

Interested in anything that WG are going to "give away" , but as usual as soon as the complexity appears, I zone out...2 major reasons as usual recently (not so recently looking at the timescale) I work, I have a RL, I cannot dedicate routine regular time to a game of pixels....so I know that recent so called competitions mean I will never progress beyond a certain stage.....

And as they want actually money to progress further!  Not for me....I will pay for what I think (can justify) to enhance my game..if it means that I save my money and don't progress further...ok I will save and pay for something else...so be it!
