I think I would be ok with most maps. If driving a LT, maybe I would switch off the smaller maps; if driving a slow HT, I would switch off larger maps (sometimes too slow to join battle / risk of draw as you are in HT vs last remaining med/HT that runs and hides)

Some maps give teams a high chance of 7-0 one-sided victories if they act in a certain way. Port Bay is one of those maps that rewards the team the pushes first through the river area (HT straight, Meds cross river)

The team that pushes first has a huge advantage and the 'defending' team usually has no way back. Defenders are disadvantaged  as there are no good defensive points including places for TDs to defend against such a push.

This is from the 'hated map' thread where I talked about Port Bay's spawn point being hard to defend because of poor cover - which rewards the team that pushes first.

As I am finding Euro server a little bit of a campfest, I decided to push on Port Bay despite being lower tier (and very heavily armored red team - 2 Tigers & vk36.01 on red team!) because I suspected we would find some tanks camping at spawn, and we found the entire red team at spawn! Suggesting that the "Fort Despair all camp behind bush" behaviour is still very much prevalent in other maps and at tier 7!

It’s your reroll I assume?

With a red team that plays like it is built from 46% players that only drive ‘n shoot you could have won going either direction. The fact that you are the only player that knows how to angle or take cover makes you the deciding factor in the game.

And if the vk and tiger would have pushed, your team would have been wiped in a minute. It's pretty hard to defend anything without knowing what to do. A spawn rush can be countered from the other side of the river, from the lower hill, etc. So don't really see your point.

glad to hear that things get better after 5k games! Playing at a rate of 10 games a day, I should be able to cross the 5k mark in 16 months. Looking forward to see what Euro server is like after 5k games!

so for the time being, I guess that this is only relevant as a guide to players who are in their first 5000 games (i.e first or second year of blitz). Maybe its useful for these players to know that slightly different strategies work for >5k and <5k games :)

It’s the same. I get -/+ 5k teams and it’s all the same. If you want “decent” gameplay, rating (above gold) is the place to go.

They don't get much better after 5k. You will still have teams that do this nonsense, and it is so painful to be on one that does.

But it's infrequent, one in every 5 matches or so. Unless you play after midnight local time. After midnight GMT, it's just drunks and a lot of 39 to 46% idiocy.

Edit: That camo looks better on the M6 than i imagined it would.

WG rig it after midnight and they keep dialling up the rigging the later it gets, as I lose loads more after midnight!
