I was in my T28 Defender when I spotted an Emil not moving nor was he behind cover or doing anything. I shot him twice and on my third shot he vanished.
How is this possible? Is the spot and hide that screwed up???

it's called 'viewrange'
Although, there has been at some point a mechanism when an unspotted AFK player was automatically destroyed when he was last tank in game. It was never clear (to me at least) what were the conditions to get that.

Upload the replay to wotinspector and look at the replay you’ll see he was probably near the limit of your view-range and backed up out of it or went behind cover...

He never moved nor did I. I was waiting on my third shot to load when he just vanished.
You were obviously not spotting him yourself, he left the view range of your teammate as he/she probably moved. It’s just the spotting mechanics.

It's very strange how I can plug two shots into a stationary tank and it just vanish.
I don't understand how the tank is not qualified as being spotted by me while it is being shot.

My interpretation.
When you are shooting, he is at 268.158 m. Your view range is 266m. I suppose that the ActionX spotted him at 42s (or so), not you. When climbing, the Emil is still in LOS of the ActionX but from 50s, or so, on he loses sight on him. Around 1 min, 9s later, its camo resets and he becomes invisible to you. He becomes visible again when the Tiger II spots him around 1'08".
Thumbs up for sharing the replay.

I find the spotting and hiding very strange.

Might be worth to check such videos out: https://www.youtube....?v=P7WBstbZJt8. I also recommend this guy: https://www.youtube....?v=YIAwi_hTEzg. You don't have to speak Russian to understand his videos.

thanks for sharing, @Angry and nice analysis @gallabru, I had a look at the replay and it looks like you said he was outside the view-range..
I appreciate it’s strange but it’s how it works...

I've found that sometimes damage is not given even though the tank loses HP.

Definitely not, if you shoot blind and do damage, your commander does not speak and the damage does not show (it feels right IMHO).
If you shoot blind and kill, IIRC the only indication is in the general battle chat e.g. Marsisbrighttonight [OBB} >>> Hiding_Red_Tank [CLAN].

Mars is right, it does not show at the time. But if you hit them blind, it shows up when you next see them or you can see it at the end in the summaries.
And Mars is also right about the blind kills. If it uploads, this short video shows me shooting at where I knew the WZ was ... two or three shots later you can see the graphic pop up in orange. One dead WZ.
